Mountain Wall Hanging

He said:

I remember when he was just a wee little boy, my cousin. Then, he was all growd up and getting married. The Flatirons (look it up if you don’t know) near Boulder, Colorado have stood watch over so much of his life. Given the wedding occasion, would you expect anything less from us than something handmade?? This piece is a recreation of a picture of the Flatirons that you probably already saw if you searched for it. The bottom section is bamboo representing the grassy field. The top is maple representing the sky. The middle section is some old SD barn wood representing the background mountains. So, of course, that leaves the Flatirons, which here are cut from rusted roofing tin. I really enjoy combining different materials and want to do more things like this. I added a border frame and cut in some keyholes in the back for hanging. But, to really complete it all, my wifey prayerfully added a meaningful scripture!

Pictures can’t do this piece justice. It’s dynamic and textured and beautiful…if I do say so myself. I want to do more art like this! I love the way it all came together. Every inch of it has meaning poured into it. It’s reflective of their story, and will hopefully watch over them for years to come. It was really fun to put our heads together and find ways to personalize this down to the last detail. Adding the verse to it at the end really did feel like the best way we could pray a blessing over their marriage!
