Bed

WIth almost everything I make, I get the satisfaction and fulfillment in the process (learning, creating, accomplishing). There’s very few things I really feel I need to keep. I had built a low to the ground platform style bed but it was seriously not conducive for the wifey to maneuver. I’m not sure how many times i suggested I build a new one with better access but she kept saying, “But you built this one blah, blah, blah.” One day, I just had enough. Some measurements, some 2×4’s, some 1×8’s, some glue, and some screws equals new bed. BONUS: storage under the bed now!

I love this man. As I’ve gotten sicker and sicker over the past year, he has been relentless in loving and caring for me. Never falters. He’s just the best. Our bed was a really cool platform bed that he made when we were first dating, and I loved it. It was really solid, and beautiful. But it was low. And there was a ledge around the outside of it, like 10 inches or so? Trying to climb over it and out of bed every day was so painful and difficult — but I did NOT want to get rid of that bed, because he made it. And it was so special. Then one day he says, “That’s it, I’m making you a new bed. You can’t do this anymore.” By the very next day, we were sleeping on our newly built, nice and tall bed! He even measured to the exact height that would be easiest for me to get in and out of bed. THAT is love.
