So one day I said to my husband, “I need something to put my art supplies on in the dining room which I’ve now taken over for painting.” My crafty area in the basement is dungeony-dark and not conducive to painting and things that require light. Two hours later, poof! This magical buffet table appears in our garage. I stained the top, painted the rest, and it is a PERFECT fit. It keeps our dining room an actual dining room, keeps my supplies from overtaking the entire table on which we try to eat, and it looks fabulous. That man of mine. Such a solution finder.

A request to go build something?! Uh, you got it babe! I took some measurements of the space and sketched it up. A quick check of the material on hand revealed a trip to the store was required — oh darn. I sifted through the bargain rack at Menards and managed to find some 2×6’s that were flat enough for this application. With plans in hand and material ready to go, the man glitter started flying. This kind of thing goes quick when you are well prepared! Fastening this together with pocket holes makes it super sturdy while not distracting with exposed screw heads. Honestly, sitting there unfinished it was very blah. But, the beautiful choices of stain and paint made a world of difference! No doubt this one will stay in the permanent collection.
