The wood spool table was okay but we wanted something different. So many ideas, so little time turned in to so many ideas equals paralysis by analysis. I had previously tore apart a dozen or more pallets for various projects and so I had quite a bit to choose from: different types of wood, colors, shapes, and conditions. And, of course, the engineer mind kicked in so I had to make the most efficient use of the already cut pieces while maintaining a certain creativeness. That’s pretty much how the design layout of the top was born. As cool as pallet wood can be in a final product, working with it can really be a pain. This could turn into a three page long thing so I’ll speed it up here. Couldn’t get thin wood leveled out. Couldn’t pocket hole because the edges of the boards are rounded. The screws I had on hand that were the proper length were fine thread. Ugh. Okay that’s over. With the top done, I whipped together the legs and bottom shelf pretty quickly. We’ve had a number of positive comments on it but i just see the flaws. That said, I really like this thing…but more importantly – SHE DOES!!

I am madly in love with this coffee table. As much as any person can love a piece of furniture. It’s GORGEOUS, guys. The pictures don’t even do it justice. The mismatched pallet wood top is full of charm and character. The teal paint is my favorite color. And the shelf on the bottom gives me a place to put BASKETS. To organize! Yes! This mama loves organization. I topped it with coasters (from our wedding centerpieces) and flowers from our wedding. I can’t get over how great it looks in our living room.
