I love creating signage. Whether it’s digitally designed or hand-lettered, I love doing it. I picked up some blanks on clearance at Michaels for our hand-lettered signs, and printed the big ones that I designed to match our invitations. Dustin built large signs for directing guests at the campground. My favorite was the sign for our guestbook, which is actually a giant shelf that spells out “LOVE.” I wrote the story of creating this altar to mark where God has done something miraculous. I cried writing it, I cried every time I read it, and I’m crying now as I’m explaining it.

Our wedding was at a very large campground complex. And with no cell phone service, we had to go old school communication: signs and talking to people. Making the arrow signs was fun, quick, and easy! But, the signs at the ceremony really brought feelings of depth, grace, and honor to the site and event. The “LOVE” sign/shelf was my biggest (only?) contribution. Despite being a fairly simple project of measure-cut-assemble, the balancing act and shifting centers of gravity made it a challenge to keep the thing vertically straight. I like this kind of project though and will definitely make some more.
