She said she wanted to make a Scrabble board with “Family” and all of our names on it. I asked if we had an extra Scrabble board and she said, “Yes.” I asked if there were enough letters for all of that and she said, “Yes.” After it was all glued down and she asked if we could make a backer board for it, I said, “Yes.” It’s always nice to have pallet wood laying around for stuff like this. We conferred on size and and this was an easy cut, sand, nail, and stain process. I used the keyhole router bit for easy hanging, if we can ever find space on the walls. Brianna came up with the idea of adding copper brads to the corners and I think that really adds to the look! PS. Arabella got the high score.

I actually got the inspiration for this from a card made for us for our wedding! My dear friend Helen made us a card with our entire family’s names crossword-style, and I just LOVED IT. So I pulled out an extra Scrabble game (because we have three…nerds) and put this together! After I’d glued all the letters down, I decided it needed some sort of frame or backing. We worked together to come up with this awesome, sort of rustic non-frame for it. All the kids think this is the coolest thing.
