Have you figured us out yet? I can do some things with wood; pretty one-dimensional. Brianna, on the other hand, vastly multi-dimensional. So many talents in so many subjects. I’m in awe of stuff like this. I think — I KNOW — this is why I married her!

It’s no secret that I am pretty much obsessed with notebooks. And journals. And fun things to write in. I’ve been looking at traveler’s notebooks for a while, which are basically shells that you can slide small notebooks into and create a journal system that changes as you need it to. BRILLIANT. Swap out inserts at random, customize the notebook while getting to keep a pretty cover? Yes, please! I kept wanting to make my own, but traditionally they’re made from leather and I just didn’t really want to deal with that. I decided I’d rather have mine made out of canvas so I can, you know, paint it. I researched some traditional patterns and DIY tips, then made my own version out of canvas, some fusible bond, simple stitching, and elastic cording. I made one for each of my older girls for Christmas, too, and the three of us had an awesome afternoon painting them together! We decided to use them as prayer journals, with three main inserts: one for prayers, one for sermon/study notes, and one for our word of the year. I can’t wait to see where these journals take us this year!
